I am posting this E-Portfolio for any prospective employers who may be interested in hiring me as an Information Technologies (IT) professional. I am currently actively looking for a career in the IT field. I have been working with electronics and computers for as long as I can remember. The world of electronics is a passionate hobby of mine that I have been studying for over 20 years now. My first computer was a Commodore 64. My second computer was my first IBM Personal Computer (PC) that I owned as well as the first one that I built. I built this computer in 1992, it was a 486dx66. It had a whopping 8 Megabytes of RAM, and a huge 320 Megabyte hard drive. I only had an old 15" VGA CRT back then. It took me a lot of mowing and farm work back then to build this computer but I had a lot of learning to do and a lot of gaming. Since those days I have built easily over a hundred computers to include a couple laptops. In 1999 I setup my first network. I used a simple ring topography and was using BNC Network Interface Cards (NIC) on each workstation on this network.
In March of 2003 I joined the US Army as a Signal Support Systems Specialist (31U). Then in 2004 the military decided to change my Military Occupation Skills (MOS) number to 25U and with that change to add more computer and networking responsibilities to my list of expertise. After this change my job was literally to know how to install, maintain, troubleshoot, & repair every communications system in the Army. In 2005 I received a trial by fire of how to be a Military Communications (Comms) instructor. One of the Army Achievement medals that I received was for my performance in the role of being a Comms Officer and Instructor in the field. 2005 was also the year when I began learning the Military Sipr and Nipr nets. I started to manage and maintain user accounts on our networks on base as well as maintain both the network and the workstations that were connected to it. I had to keep a record of all computers on the network and who was authorized to use each terminal. With this task also came the responsibility of scanning the computers on the network for security risks and any un-authorized files or access attempts. As my injuries I had received while in the field grew worse I was migrated more towards the computer and network aspects of my job. Regrettably I was unable to get my Security+, Server+, or Network+ certifications due to the timing of when the courses were offered versus when I was in the field. I was in the field every time that the classes were available.
Since I have been out of the military I have worked as a security officer and non-profit IT technician for my friends, family, & family of friends. I have also been going to ITT Technical Institute since December of 2008 and am now graduated. I now have my Associate Degree in Software Applications & Programming. This Degree is an AAS. I am planning on either following this degree up with its Bachelors. If I do not pursue my Bachelors in this field then I will be changing schools and looking at either a Bachelors in Software Engineering or Business Management. I have been working for the last 8 months for Memi Tech LLC as a Web Designer / Developer building the Web Application for their newest product that they are adding to the 911 Medical ID Cardࡊ family of products.
